In a rapidly changing geopolitical landscape, energy security and resilience have become central drivers of the transition to sustainable transport fuels. Recent disruptions in global energy markets and continued volatility in crude oil supply and prices have highlighted the strategic importance of diversifying fuel sources and reducing dependence on fossil resources.

This webinar will provide an overview of advanced biofuel technologies, commercialization pathways, and global deployment trends through the work of IEA Bioenergy Task 39. Presentations will cover conversion technologies for advanced biofuels, insights from the Task 39 demonstration plants database, the commercialization status of cellulosic ethanol, and biomethane production from residues and wastes in Brazil.

Beyond technology and market developments, the webinar will examine how the Task 39 facilities database can provide valuable insights into the current state of advanced biofuel production and its potential contribution to reducing dependence on fossil fuels. Participants will gain a better understanding of the opportunities and challenges associated with expanding both established and emerging biofuel pathways to support transport decarbonization and strengthen energy security.
