- The Bio-based Industries Joint Undertaking (BBI JU), the predecessor of CBE JU, demonstrated how targeted EU investment can turn innovation into market-ready bio-based solutions. With €822 million in EU funding leveraging over €2.6 billion in total investment, BBI JU supported 138 projects that built new value chains, strengthened SME participation, brought over 100 bio-based products to market and delivered real environmental and economic impact across Europe. This strong legacy now underpins CBE JU’s work in scaling up sustainable, circular and competitive bio-based industries.
